Vintage Bros is proud to offer for sale this very rare piece of Lyman history! This boat is incredibly original and has been owned by only 2 families in it's entire life!

Hull # 10958 is one of 28 17' Islanders produced in 1941 and one of only 81 produced in the series from 1939-1942.

The value of this boat is in it's originality. You could go to boat shows for years and never see another.

BACK STORY

The boat lived it's first 40 years on Devil's Lake in Michigan. Named 'Pheral' by combining the names of the original owner's daughters, it lived in a boathouse and was used sparingly. The current owner's bought the boat in 1981 and it's remained a cherished heirloom ever since.

HULL

It is believed that every plank on this boat is original from the factory. The hull lines are crisp and the boat is gorgeous. The hull-sides and bottom were sanded and painted per original. The deck and tow rails were also sanded stained and varnished as original. The hardware was re-chromed at this time as well. The front deck canvas is original to the boat and shows beautifully.

INTERIOR

The interior is original to the boat! This is a testimony to the increadible care and light use the boat has recieved since new. The interior is spartan as one would expect from a Lyman, but also roomy and comfortable.

MECHANICAL

The boat is powered by it's original Gray Marine 'Sea Scout 4'. Rated at 25 hp, this motor recieved a complete rebuild when the boat was aquired by the current owner. In and around this time a new fuel tank was added as well. The trailer is a single axle that has been bunked to the hull of the boat.

OVERALL

What a piece of history! What an addition to any Lyman or classic boat collection!  The boat comes with a custom cover. Please call Jim at 513 678 9379.
